I will submit a review about the event held by the International Relations Study Program, namely ICTESS III. This event is an acronym for International Conference on Technology, Education, and Social Science. At the ICTESS III meeting this time, the theme was "Global Security and Global Cooperation in a Changing World". This event held on December 10, 2020, at 09.00 am Indonesian time. This event was held by Slamet Riyadi University Surakarta Indonesia
With Y. Kristiarto S. Legowo who is the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Commonwealth of Australia as the Keynote Speaker. Mr. Legowo opened the conversation by conveying how the pandemic changed all aspects that occurred in the world, which consisted of how diplomacy works, competition for major powers in the world in matters such as religion, terrorism, violence, human crimes, for example war and other. Mr. Legowo also said that there are many differences in future competition and the international environment such as during the cold war. Such as a significant increase in export and import, as well as world countries that play a role in world peace and stability. Pak Legowo also mentioned that in the last few years there have been many developments in the partnership between Indonesia and Australia. This can be seen from The Indonesia Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA). He also hopes that in the future Indonesia can develop its contribution either bilaterally or regionally to the world.
Then, the first speaker was Prof. Ts. Burhanuddin from the Technical University of Malacca. He started by telling about covid-19, how the case was and the number of patients. This has had various impacts, especially in the business and economic sectors. An example can be seen from the large number of business communities that have been severely affected in the Global economy under the impact of Covid-19. Then the Malaysian Entrepreneurs Community estimates that unemployment will increase by 13% in 2020. Things like this require strategies, such as making financial reports that present a business picture that can help companies appreciate their finances, develop strategies, and prepare relevant tools to combat various problems as a result of this pandemic.
The second speaker was Prof. Takuya Sugahara Ph.D from Ehime University Japan who talked about healthy spices through the cooperation between Japan and Indonesia. Prof. Takuya also conveyed the importance of strong spices and herbs for health and have been used throughout history. He also talked about one type of spice, namely cumin which functions as an anti-oxidant, anti-flammable, and anti-bacterial. It was developed by Ehime University in collaboration with Gadjah Mada University Indonesia. Like Indonesia, Prof. Takuya explained that Japan is also developing functional food using herbal medicine. In these two countries, Jamu is believed to provide many benefits for health and immunity.
The third speaker was Assoc, Prof. Dr. Chin Min Lin from the National Taichung Institute of Technology, Taiwan. He talked about his internship as a student. With an apprenticeship activity supported by the Ministry of Education which aims to expand the participation of young domestic people in international cooperation. It is also hoped that this exchange will be able to add to a better understanding of the lifestyle and cultural background of each country which can help deepen future cooperative relations.
Then the last speaker I watched was a speaker from Slamet Riyadi University itself, Dr. Sri Handayani Marwan. He talked about how education is the key to economic survival in the 21st century. He explained that education is a process by which a person acquires knowledge, skills, habits, values or attitudes. He also explained that there are skills that we must have today, such as finding solutions with critical thinking, out of the box creativity, collaborating with other people and public speaking.
This event ends at 12.30 Indonesian time. In this seminar I learned that there are many impacts from the Covid-19 pandemic and we must be smart to prepare a strategy in dealing with this pandemic, and not forget to maintain health.
